Maxwell George
When one of your best friends tells you she’s having a baby, you get real excited. When one of your best friends tells you she wishes her nursery could just complete itself because she’s not feeling putting it all together, you get REALLY excited.
Jenna jokingly told me one day she wished I would come to her house and do her nursery while she was at work and come home to a finished product. Little did she know, I’d jump at the opportunity! Not only are nurseries one of my favorite spaces to design, but creating a surprise space and revealing it HGTV style?! How could I pass it up?! So we decided on a budget, she gave me some ideas of various looks she loved from Pinterest, and I got to work putting together the perfect room for her new baby boy!
The theme of this one is “Vintage Sports”
The main goal here was to put together a room that was cozy, unique, and able to stand the test of time! Jenna didn’t want a space that Max would outgrow and she’d have to update within a year or two, so I carefully chose colors and decor that could last well into his older years! I was also careful to keep the majority of the “sports” related pieces smaller, less expensive items that could be switched out if he decided sports weren’t his thing {hope I didn’t jinx you, Devin}.
I wanted to balance the dark navy accent wall with a light, fresh color to keep the space from feeling like a cave. THIS COLOR from Benjamin Moore is the perfect grey to accomplish that!
Special Projects
One of the goals of this room was “unique”, so I wanted to do a few special projects that would give it that special touch! The two in this room are the “Let’s Play” wall sign and the framed “Taseff” Chicago Bears jersey.
To check out how I created the “Let’s Play” sign - head over to the “Let’s Play” blog post in The Style Suite.
The Taseff “jersey” is a poster I found on Etsy . I chose Chicago Bears because that’s Maxy’s dad’s {Devin} favorite team and #54 because that was Devin’s high school number! To finish it off, I took it to Hobby Lobby to have it framed with a 2 inch matte border and it was complete!
